IHG out as Hilton takes over NT properties

first_imgSource = e-Travel Blackboard: N.J Hilton Worldwide is set to replace InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) in the Northern Territory after signing on to take over management of group’s four properties.The decision was made this week by property owner, Berger Hotel Group, and will see the Crowne Plaza Darwin, Holiday Inn Esplanade Darwin, Holiday Inn Darwin and Crowne Plaza Alice Springs rebrand to the Hilton Darwin, DoubleTree by Hilton Esplanade Darwin, DoubleTree by Hilton Darwin and DoubleTree by Hilton Alice Springs as of 1 May 2013.IHG head of development Australasia Phil Kasselis said although “saddened” by the contract termination, he is confident of the brand’s future in Australia.“We will now actively pursue opportunities in Darwin- among other cities,” Mr Kasselis explained.Meanwhile, Hilton Worldwide Australasia vice president of operations Ashley Spencer said the hotel group had been looking to enter the Northern Territory and would focus on making the properties leading full-service hotels in the state.Hilton current manages and franchises up to 15 properties in Australasia including the recently signed DoubleTree by Hilton Karratha. ……last_img read more
