RYS Sri Lanka has now entered its 26th year, conducting service projects every year in different, often remote and rural locations to provide service and support to many underprivileged people and communities in this country. To celebrate this glorious milestone, the TOT was held on the 13th December 2018 at Horizon Campus, Malabe, Colombo .Ten selected trainees, who have associated with RYS projects for a long time, joined this one day training program. The program started with brief introductory speeches delivered by Dr. Chula Senaratne, Secretary General, UPF Sri Lanka and Ms. Dinesha Liyanasuriya , General Secretary RYS Sri Lanka. They introduce the expert trainer, Ms. Fazida Razak , who was the regional director of Asia Pacific in RYS International.Ms. Fazida from Singapore who conducted the program brought in her rich and varied experience and expertise on the subject. She successfully demonstrated to them how a topic can be presented effectively and efficiently. Then, each participant was given ample time, resources and motivation to try out the given topic in their own style. While moderating these sessions, Ms. Fazida gave them sufficient practical tips and tools to enrich their communication skills and suggested some corrective measures whenever their presentations were going off-track or found ineffective. This training program was aimed at enabling these participants to successfully evolve to become assistant trainers for the upcoming RYS projects.Senior staff members, Mrs. Champa Cumaranathunga and Manoj Jayasanka were also there to facilitate the program and provide necessary support. At the end of the day, the whole group comprising the organizers, trainer and the participants felt that this initiative was a meaningful, purpose-driven and goal-oriented venture that would immensely help RYS Sri Lanka in the future, especially in empowering its young members to spread the mission and vision of UPF & RYS throughout this island nation.
