Image Courtesy: Royal WagenborgIn today’s spotted, we bring you an image of Egbert Wagenborg, a multipurpose ship (MPP) owned by Dutch shipping company Royal Wagenborg, which successfully completed its second and last sea trial. The newbuilding was completed at the Netherlands-based Royal Niestern Sander shipyard this month.Following its completion, the 14,200 dwt vessel was towed from the shipyard to the Port of Delfzijl.Egbert Wagenborg is 149.5 meters long and 15.9 meters wide.The MPP ship will be handed over to the owner also this month when christening and name giving ceremony are scheduled to take place.
zoom Cyprus-based maritime IT solutions provider SOFTimpact has signed a strategic partnership agreement with newly established maritime management services company Lemur Maritime located in Piraeus to deliver cyber security solutions to the Greek shipping sector.As informed, SOFTimpact and Lemur will work together with their clients to address cyber threats being faced on a daily basis. Services will include risk assessments, cyber defense planning, phishing simulation, penetration testing and cyber education.In addition, the partnership is expected to help oil tanker managers and owners address the newly introduced element 13 and cyber security related KPIs in TMSA 3.“With Greece being a short hop across the water and having the majority of our workforce being Greek speaking, this partnership will allow those companies in Greece struggling to understand and address the cyber threats access to our services already delivered internationally for some time,” Markus Schmitz, Managing Director at SOFTimpact, commented.“We believe the implementing maritime cyber risk management through ISPS, ISM and TMSA Element 13 requires strategic partnerships that have contributed to the final text of the recently issued guidelines by BIMCO,” Kostas Sismanidis, Managing Director at Lemur, added.Earlier this month, a joint maritime industry group comprised of industry bodies has issued the second edition of The Guidelines on Cyber Security Onboard Ships, which includes practical advice on how to combat cyber attacks.The document includes information on insurance issues and how to effectively segregate networks, as well as new practical advice on managing the ship to shore interface, and how to handle cyber security during port calls and when communicating with the shore side.
A veteran by the name of Miss Pam got some help from Team Depot, a program that helps veterans who need a hand with home improvements.Home Depot employees volunteer on their days off to help. This afternoon “Team Depot” stopped by Miss Pam’s house to paint her fence. Home Depot Tuscaloosa manager Chad Forrester explained what it feels like to give back.“Giving back is a huge thing,” he said. “It gives you the warm fuzzy but getting to do something good for somebody that has no expectations … They don’t expect us to come out, we come out and surprise them and tell them, ‘Hey, we are going to do this project.’ Just the look on their face when we’re done is just gratifying.”Team Depot partners with several organizations that supply a list of potential veterans, including Habitat for Humanity.
